Forest Paths

Forest paths invite children and parents to explore Ljubljana's urban forests in a playful and educational way. Chasing toadstools with playful challenges is an important motivator for children when walking or hiking uphill.

The forest path is moved to a different location weekly, but all paths remain within the LPP area. Forest paths are suitable for children of all ages and are between 1 and 2 kilometres long.

The starting point of the forest trail is marked by a board with basic instructions. Wooden toadstools serve as markers along the trail. They are either attached to tree branches or stuck in the ground.

At the end of each trail there is a red and white box with a different stamp each week. This is then stamped in your own forest trail diary, which children can make themselves (see instructions below: MAKE YOUR OWN FOREST PATH DIARY). Or you can simply record your impressions of the trails in old and unused notebooks you find in your drawers at home. If you have a printer at home, you can also print out the forest paths diary.

Once the children have collected 6 different stamps, you are invited to come to Mala ulica (Prečna ulica 7) to collect the prize for the most diligent forest explorer(s)!

Every Friday we post a description of the forest trail with the starting and ending point on our website and FB page. And for those keen adventurers who want to discover the way to the chest on their own, every Friday you can look forward to the fireflies pointing the way ... Now, put your backpack on your shoulder and hop into the woods!
